Recipe for Fish Pineapple Curry
Ingredients
- Fish fillets or steaks 450 g
- Cooking Oil 1/3 cup
- Onion finely chopped 1/4 cup
- Turmeric Ground 1/4 tsp
- Chili Powder 1/2 tsp
- Coriander Ground 1 tsp
- Pineapple Chopped 1/2 cup
- Sugar 2
- Green chilies pared 4
- Salt to taste
Cooking Directions
Choose a big size hilsa or other fishes like carp mackerel, haddock, herring, salmon, rub shad, lobster etc.
Gut, scale and rinse the fish.
Cut into steaks. Rinse and drain water.
Pat them dry on absorbent kitchen paper.
Mix ground spices in half cup of water.
In a saucepan heat the oil.
Add the onion and mixture of spices.
Stir the spices till the oil separates.
Add the pineapple, sugar and salt.
Cook for 2 minutes. Add another cup of water.
Arrange the fish in the saucepan.
If necessary add more water just to cover fish.
Put lid on. Cook over moderate heat.
When the gravy thickens add the chilies and keep over low heat till oil surfaces.
Serve with plain pullao, fluffy boiled rice or bread.
