Recipe for Chakka Curry
Ingredients
- Small raw jackfruit 1
- Coconut 1/2
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Green chilies 6
- Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
- Onion 1
- Coconut oil 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Curry leaves a few
Cooking Directions
Cut jackfruit into quarters.
Cut off the white pith in center using an oil smeared hand, separate fruit, remove, seeds and slice into long thin pieces.
Add salt and sprinkle a little water over.
Cover tightly and cook.
Grind together, cumin seeds, green chilies, turmeric powder and onion.
Add coconut and grind coarsely.
Add ground paste to half-cooked jackfruit.
Cover and steam.
Stir with the handle of a wooden spoon and mix well.
Add curry leaves.
Heat oil in a frying pan and fry sliced onion in it, when brown add mustard seeds.
When the seeds crackle, pour over the bhaji.
Mix well and serve.
