Recipe for Beef Pockets
Ingredients
- Beef 1/2 kg or 1 roll of undercut
- Puff pastry dough 250 gm
- Ginger garlic paste 3 tbsp
- Lemons 2 squeezed
- Worcestershire sauce 1/4 cup
- Raw papaya paste 2 tbsp
- French mustard paste 2 tbsp
- Black pepper 2 tbsp crushed
- Red chili 2 tbsp flakes
- Salt to taste
- Oil 1/4 cup
- Egg 1
- For puff pastry dough:
- Plain flour 1/2 kg
- Uni puff 250 gm or 1 pao
- Egg 1
- Sugar 1 tsp
- White butter 2 tbsp
- Salt less than 1/2 tsp
- Water as required
Cooking Directions
To make Puff Pastry dough:
On smooth table mix plain flour with salt, sugar, egg, butter and uni puff.
After mixing slowly add water and kneed till smooth dough.
Sprinkle a little plain flour and kneed again.
Leave pastry dough to one side.
To prepare Beef:
Slit the meat piece lengthwise from the middle, so that it opens up and becomes a one big thin flat piece.
Marinate the meat with salt, ginger garlic paste and papaya and set aside for 2 hours.
In a bowl add lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, oil, french mustard paste, black pepper and red chilies, beat it well till the oil disappears and becomes of a thicker consistency.
Rub this mixture on the meat thoroughly.
Heat the grill pan, place the meat on it, cook throughly until blood dries up.
Sprinkle plain flour on puff pastry dough and roll it out thinly.
Place the meat in the center of rolled out puff pastry dough.
Beat an egg, brush egg on the edges of dough and wrap up the beef with the puff pastry dough.
Seal the edges with a fork.
Brush the remaining egg over the pastry dough.
Brush a little butter on a baking tray and put the pastry in it.
Keep the tray in preheated oven at 200 degree and bake it for 10 minutes or till it turns golden.
Turn off the oven after 8-10 minutes, leaving only the upper grill on for few minutes.
Cut it into pieces before serving.
Tip: If you have no grill pan than use normal pan or tawa.
