Recipe for Beef Balchao
Ingredients
- Oil ¼ cup
- Beef undercut ½ kg (cut in cubes)
- Water 1 cup
- Onion 1 (sliced)
- Dry red chilies 6 – 7
- Cloves 6 – 7
- Garlic clove 4 – 5 (chopped)
- Ginger 1 (chopped)
- Cinnamon 1 piece
- Black pepper 1 tsp
- Turmeric 1 tsp
- Sugar 1 tsp
- Red chili 1 tbsp
- Whole cumin ½ tbsp
- Tomato paste 4 tbsp
- Vinegar 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Cooking Directions
In a dry frying pan roast cinnamon, dry red chili, clove, cumin and black pepper and grind them all together and make a powder.
In a wok heat oil and add sliced onion fry till golden brown, remove from pan, then crush with your hands and keep aside.
Now in the same wok add ginger and garlic and saute for 2 minutes.
Add the freshly ground masala powder in it.
Then add beef undercut cubes, turmeric and red chili powder stir for 2 - 3 minutes.
Add 1 cup of water tomato paste and let it cook on low flame.
Remove the lid after 30 – 35 minutes.
Now add crushed onion, salt, sugar and vinegar and saute for 2 – 4 minutes.
Delicious beef balchao is ready to serve.
