Recipe for Cabbage Rice
Ingredients
- Basmati rice 2 cup
- Finely chopped cabbage 2 cup
- Chopped onion 1
- Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
- Mint leaves few
- Curry leaves few
- Oil 4 tbsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- tara garam masala 1tbsp
- Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
- Green chilies 2-3 whole
- Peanuts 1-2 tbsp (OPTIONAL)
- Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp (OPTIONAL)
- Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Cooking Directions
Wash and soak 2 cups rice for 15 minutes and cook with salt and few drops of oil.
Wash and cut the cabbage finely and chop the onion finely.
In a skillet, add oil, all ingredients with onions and saute till they become crunchy.
Now add 2 cups chopped cabbage and saute for a minute by adding the 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp of salt and 1 tbsp taara garam masala powder.
Mix this with the cooked rice without mashing the rice and garnish with mint and peanuts.
