Recipe for Mogar (Yellow Lentils)
Ingredients
- Yellow lentils (Moong daal) 250 gm
- Sesame seeds 75 gm
- Bay leaf 1
- Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida a pinch
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Chilli powder 2 tsp
- Coriander powder 3 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Sugar 1 tsp
- Mango powder 2 tsp
- All spice 1/2 tsp
- Ghee as required
Cooking Directions
Soak lentils for 1/2 an hour.
Heat 1 tbsp ghee and add all the ingredients except for mango powder, sugar and all spice.
Cook for 1-2 minutes.
Then add the soaked lentils and double the amount of water.
When water has dried and the lentil grains are soft and separate, mix in mango powder, sugar and all spice.
