Recipe for Shami Kebab
Ingredients
- 1 kg minced meat.
- 1 cup chana (gram) dal.
- 1 tsp garam masala powder.
- 1 tsp whole cumin seeds. 1 tsp salt.
- 8 garlic pods cut into 2 pcs each.
- 4 whole red chillies or adjust to taste.
- 1/4 pc of Jaiphal nut grated.
- 1 very small onion.
- 1/2 inch ginger pc.
- 1 green chilli or adjust to taste.
- handful of green coriander leaves.
- handful of mint leaves.
- 1 egg.
- oil for frying.
Cooking Directions
In a pot put in the minced meat,1 cup chana dal , 1 tsp garam masala powder,1tsp cumin seeds, 8 garlic pods cut into two pcs, 4 whole red chillies , 1 tsp salt and cover just enough water so the dal becomes soft but not mushy and by that time the mince will also become tender.
When done add the grated jaiphal on top.
Next in a grinder put in the ginger, the onion the green chilli and both the green coriander and mint leaves and lastly put in the dal and mince mixture and grind till it is a smooth mixture. When done remove and make small flat patties out of the mixture.
Whisk one egg and keep aside. In a large frying pan heat some oil for shallow frying and then dip the patties in egg and fry in oil four at a time.
When dark golden brown remove and serve immediately. Or either you can make sandwiches in burger buns which taste really great.
