Recipe for Mutton Coconut Curry
Ingredients
- Mutton ½ kg
- Onion 1 (sliced)
- Curry leaves 8 - 10
- Green chilies 4 – 5 (chopped)
- Yogurt ½ cup
- Coconut milk ½ cup
- Ginger 1 medium piece (chopped)
- Garlic cloves 4 – 5 (chopped)
- Turmeric 1 tsp
- Red chili powder 1 tbsp
- Nutmeg and mace powder ½ tsp
- Cardamom ½ tsp (powdered)
- All spice powder ½ tsp
- Oil 5 - 6 tbsp
- Butter 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Cooking Directions
Heat oil in a wok and fry the sliced onions until they turn golden brown in color.
Add ginger, garlic chopped and curry leaves, fry for 2 - 3 minutes.
Add mutton and fry till the color of the meat changes.
Add yogurt, red chili powder, nutmeg and mace powder, crushed cardamom, turmeric, all spice powder, salt and 1 ½ cup water.
Cover and allow to cook till meat tenders.
After 35 - 40 minutes uncover and add in the coconut milk along with green chilies.
Fry for a few minutes and lastly top with butter.
