Recipe for Sizzling Shezwan Beef

Ingredients

  • Beef (undercut) (cut into strips) 1/2 kg
  • Oil 1/4 cup
  • Garlic (coarsely chopped) 1 tsp
  • Chinese salt 1, 1/2 tsp
  • White pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Sugar 1/4 tsp
  • Carrots (julienne) 1 cup
  • Cabbage (thinly cut) 1, 1/2 cup
  • Spring onions (cut into 1" pieces) 1/2 cup
  • Ginger (julienne) 1 tbsp
  • Capsicum (julienne) 1
  • Ketchup 1/2 cup
  • Stock 1 cup
  • Chili sauce 1 tbsp
  • Corn flour 1 tsp heaped (dissolved in 1 tbsp water)

Cooking Directions

Heat oil in a wok and add garlic and ginger and fry.

Then add beef and stir briskly for about 5 minutes.

Keep stirring.

Add in vegetables, seasoning and stock.

Cook for another 5 minutes.

Add cornflour paste and cook till gravy thickens.

Serve sizzling hot with fried rice.
