Recipe for Bohri Khichri
Ingredients
- Rice 2 cups
- Pigeon lentils 1 cup
- Turmeric 1 tsp
- Crushed cumin 1 tsp
- Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
- Chopped onion 2
- Salt to taste
- Chopped green chilies 8
- All spice powder 1 tsp
- Chopped tomatoes 4
- Mint leaves ½ bunch
- Green coriander ½ bunch
- Clarified butter/ oil1 cup
Cooking Directions
Wash and soak 2 cups of rice.
Wash and boil 1 cup pigeon lentil.
Once boiled drain the water.
Take a pan, and add in 1 cup oil.
Add in 2 chopped onions and fry it till they are golden brown.
Then add in 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 4 chopped tomatoes, 8 chopped green chilies, 1 tsp turmeric and 1 tsp white cumin. Cook it.
Add in rice and gram lentil.
Cook it and then add in 2 – 2 ½ cup of water.
Add in some salt and chopped green chilies.
Cover the pan and cook.
When the water dries, simmer it.
Garnish it with green chilies, ½ bunch mint leaves, ½ bunch green coriander and serve.
