Recipe for Daal Koftay Curry

Ingredients

  • Mince ½ kg
  • Chana daal ½ cup
  • Cloves 8
  • Green cardamom 4
  • Black cardamom 2
  • Cinnamon 1 stick
  • Cumin crushed 1 ½ tsp
  • Ginger garlic 1 tbsp heaped
  • Black pepper crushed 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp heaped
  • Onion 1 cup chopped
  • Water 2 cups
  • Column II
  • Chili powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander chopped ½ cup
  • Green chilies chopped 4
  • Cream 2 tbsp
  • Egg 1
  • Ingredients for baghar:
  • Ghee 4 tbsp
  • Garlic crushed 1 tbsp
  • Whole red chilies 5
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Ingredients for daal:
  • Orange lentil 1 ½ cup
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Chili powder 1 ½ tsp
  • Water 4 cups
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice ¼ cup

Cooking Directions

Put mince in a pan with Chana daal ½ cup, Cloves 8, Green cardamom 4, Black cardamom 2, Cinnamon 1 stick, Cumin crushed 1 ½ tsp, Ginger garlic 1 tbsp heaped, Black pepper crushed 1 tsp, Salt 1 tsp heaped, Onion 1 cup chopped and Water 2 cups.

Cook till mince tender and dry, grind to a fine paste.

Add to it Chilli powder 1 tsp, Coriander chopped ½ cup, Green chillies chopped 4, Cream 2 tbsp, Egg 1, mix well.

Make into smooth balls, deep fry in hot oil and keep aside.

Method for daal:
Boil daal with 4 cups water, ginger garlic paste, turmeric, salt and chili powder till tender, cool and blend daal.

Add lemon juice, chopped green chilies and coriander leaves, boil for 10 minutes.

Add the fried koftas into the daal, lastly add baghar, serve with boiled rice.
