Recipe for Dal shorba
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup chana dal (Bengal gram) - boiled
- 1/4 cup dhuli moong dal (split, skinless green gram) - boiled
- 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp pepper powder
- 2 cloves garlic- crushed
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Chopped coriander leaves- for garnishing
Cooking Directions
Grind together boiled chana dal and moong dal to a coarse paste adding little water.
Add 3 cups of water to the ground dals and mix.
Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. When they change color, add crushed garlic and fry till it turns light brown.
Add the dal paste, salt and pepper powder. Mix well.
Add coriander leaves and cook on low heat for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat, mix in lemon juice and serve dal shorba hot.
