Recipe for MOONG CURRY

Ingredients

  • Green full moong 1 cup
  • Tomato 1 medium
  • Green chilli 2 – 3
  • Corriander leaves chopped 1/2 cup
  • Curry leaves 4 – 5
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli 1
  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Aesofoetida a pinch
  • Salt 3/4 tsp(or as required)
  • Corriander cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Cardamom powder a pinch

Cooking Directions

Wash moong and keep it in the pressure cooker.

Add two cups of water and pressure cook until 2 whistles.

Heat oil in a frying pan and add cumin seeds.

When they start popping, add curry leaves, red chilli, aesofoetida and fry for about 10 seconds.

Add green chilli, tomatoes to it and fry for about 5 minutes.

Add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder, cumin corriander powder and stir for another 2 minutes.

Add cooked moong and cook for about 8 – 10 minutes.

Add cardamom powder and sugar and cook for about another minute.

Garnish with corriander leaves.

Serve hot with roti/rotli/chapati/rice.
