Recipe for Kalonji Chicken

Ingredients

  • Chicken 1 kg (cut in 12 to 16 pieces)
  • Onions 2 large (grind to a paste)
  • Thick greek yogurt 1/2 cup
  • Bullet green chili 4
  • Ginger & garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  • Nutmeg 1/4 tsp
  • Mace 1/4 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Kalonji 1 tsp (Nigella sativa)
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Fresh coriander handful

Cooking Directions

Marinate chicken: add chicken, yogurt, ginger & garlic paste, nutmeg, mace, green cardamom powder, salt, kalonji, garam masala powder, red chili powder mix and leave it for 30 minutes.

Heat oil add the onion and fry till gets a darker golden colour, on high flame.

Now add the marinated chicken, mix and wait for a boil on high flame, then cover and cook on low to medium till the chicken is cooked and oil separates (you can add water if have problem cooking, about 1 cup of water).

Then add green chili, fresh coriander, mix well.

Serve hot with naan, roti.
