Recipe for Gajer Ka Halwa
Ingredients
- 7 oz carrots grated
- 60ml evaporated milk
- 1 tbsp milk
- 120ml (4 fl oz) ghee
- 2 oz semolina
- 4 oz caster sugar
- 1 oz almonds, ground
- Pinch of saffron
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom seeds
- 2 tbsp blanched and chopped pistachios
Cooking Directions
Mix carrots, evaporated milk and milk in a pan and cook for 8-10 minutes.
In another pan, heat ghee and add semolina, fry for a minute and remove from heat.
In the carrot mixture, add fried semolina, sugar, ground almonds, ground cardamom, saffron, cook for 10 more minutes, till carrots are done and halwa is ready.
Sprinkle with chopped blanched pistachios and serve warm.
