Recipe for Chatpatay Karelay
Ingredients
- Bitter gourd½ kg
- Mustard seeds few
- Turmeric1tsp
- Red chili powder1tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste1 tbsp
- Chopped green chilies6
- Tamarind paste 1 cup
- Jaggery 2 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Nigella seeds1 tsp
- Curry leavesfew
- Oilas required
- For Bitter Gourd:
- Turmeric1 tsp
Cooking Directions
Slice the bittergourd length wise and deseed them. Add in 1 tbsp tamarind paste, 1 tsp jiggery, salt and 1 tsp turmeric. Leave it for 10 minutes.
Wash them again and let the water drain out of it. Add some oil in the pan and add in the bittergourd and deep fry them till they are golden brown.
Now take some oil in thepan and add in few fenugreek seeds and then add in 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tbsp red chilipowder, some salt, 1 cup tamarind paste, 2 tbsp jiggery, few curry leaves,1 tsp nigella seeds and 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and cook it.
Then add in the fried bittergourd. Simmer for 5 minutes and serve.
