Recipe for Black Eyed beans
Ingredients
- 1 cup of black eyed beans – available in any Indian store
- Salt to taste
- Red chili powder-1 tbsp
- Coriander powder-1 tbsp
- Turmeric = just little
- Jaggery- 1-2 pieces
- Kokum- 3-5 pieces
- oil- 2 tbsp
- Mustard seeds-1 tbsp
Cooking Directions
Wash the black eyed beans very well with water
Soak them in water for atleast 30 minutes before cooking
Then pressure cook them with water for atleast 5-6 whistles. You can do it more also if they are not cooked well
Once the cooker is cooled set them aside
Then take a frying pan and add oil and mustard seeds to it.
Lit the stove and once it starts popping then add turmeric immediately
On top of it add cooked beans and water with it.
To this add salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, jaggery and kokum
Let this cook for atleast 20 minutes on medium flame
Then let this simmer for some more time and mix it well.
Serve hot with rice or fulkas.
