Recipe for Crispy Gujju Chakris
Ingredients
- Wheat flour: 200 g,
- Rice flour: 100 g,
- Salt, sesame seeds, a little turmeric.
- In addition, sesame and jirum adhakacara
Cooking Directions
To begin with mix Wheat and rice flour with the salt . Now take a thin cotton bag made of cloth in a pressure cooker and let it boil. Pressure cook for about 3 to 4 whistles.
After taking it out remove all the big grains by passing it through a sieve.Add 2 tbsp of butter.
Then add oil, jiru (cumin), little turmeric and chili powder and set up flour converting it into a dough.
It should be placed aside for two hours. After all this time, take the chakri machine and add the dough after blending it very nicely into that machine
Rotate that machine and make forms of even circles to shape it as it is in the picture above.
Keep oil on a stove and let the temperature rise for 10 minutes. Check if the oil is really hot by putting a small piece of dough.
Once that’s done, put the nicely shaped chakri doughs in oil and fry it till golden brown on both sides.
Once its fried, you can take it on a tissue paper to let all the oil dry out. Season if needed.
Else this is great snack for tea time, can lasts for months together if stored in cool dry place.
