• 2 C All purpose flour
• ½ C packed brown sugar
• 1 Tsp baking powder
• ¼ Tsp baking soda
• ½ Tsp ground cinnamon
• ¼ Tsp ground cloves
• ¾ C yogurt
• 1/3 C applesauce
• 1/3 C apple juice
• 2 Tbsp melted butter
• ½ C raisins
• Lemon Sauce
• ½ C sugar
• 2 Tsp cornstarch/cornflour
• 1 C water
• 1 Tsp butter
• 2 Tsp grated lemon peel
• 1 Tsp lemon juice

In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and cloves.

In another bowl, combine the yogurt, applesauce, apple juice and butter; stir into dry ingredients until just moistened. Combine the raisins.

Pour into a 9-inch round baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 F/180 C for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to a wire rack to cool completely.

For the lemon sauce: combine the sugar, cornstarch and water in a saucepan. Stir until smooth and bring it to boil. Cook for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat.

Add butter, lemon peel and lemon juice. Combine well. Serve warm with the cake.
