Recipe for Pakistani Kima
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced (I substituted 1 cup of chopped ramps for the onion and garlic)
- 1 pound ground beef or ground venison
- 1 Tbsp curry powder
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- one dash each of pepper, cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric
- 2 cups cooked tomatoes (I cheated and used one can, drained)
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 2 cups frozen peas or green beans (I used one can, drained, here too)
- rice for serving (I used a lentil/brown rice mixture, but basmati would have been better had I had some on hand)
Cooking Directions
Saute the butter, garlic, and onion. Add beef and brown well.
Stir in spices, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes. Serve over rice.
