Recipe for Daal-e-Bahar
Ingredients
- 300 grams split Bengal gram
- 2 green chillies
- 1/2 tbsp cumin seeds
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tbsps chopped coriander
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander-cumin seeds powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- to taste salt
- 2 tbsps oil
Cooking Directions
Wash and soak Bengal gram for 4 hours. Drain and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan and fry onions, cumin seeds and chillies until onions are light brown in color. Add Bengal gram and turmeric powder.
Add salt and a half cup of water. Cover and cook on a slow heat until lentil is soft.
Add tomato, coriander, coriander-cumin seed powder and chilli powder and cook for a minute. Sprinkle garam masala on top.Serve with crispy puri
