Recipe for Shahi Daal
Ingredients
- 1 cup soaked white chick peas
- 3 cloves
- 2 cardamom
- 2 finely chopped onions
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1 cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tbsp finely chopped green chillies
- 4 tbsps oil
- 1/2 cup cream
- to taste salt
Cooking Directions
Pressure cook soaked white chick peas with salt and 4 cups of water till they are done.
Blend mixture to smooth paste in mixer. Keep aside. Heat oil in a wok and add chopped onions.
Saute’ till they are translucent and add cloves, green cardamom, cinnamon and saute’ for a minute.
Add chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and green chillies and cook for 30 seconds.
Add lentils and salt and allow mixture to come to a boil.
Add coconut milk and cream and simmer till thick.
Serve hot
