Recipe for Fried meat balls
Ingredients
- Mutton 2 lb
- Coconut 1
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Poppy seeds 2 tsp
- Coriander powder 3 tsp
- Gram dhal 4 oz
- Chilli powder 2 tsp
- Cardamoms 2
- Onions 6 large
- Lemons 3
- Ginger 1 inch piece
- Oil or ghee
- Garlic 2 large pods
- Salt to taste
Cooking Directions
Wash and chop up the meat.
Boil it with turmeric, chili and coriander powder, adding just enough water to cover the meat.
Remove when mutton is tender, pound and shred it fibre by fibre.
Chop the onions, ginger and garlic and grate the coconut.
Fry the poppy seeds, gram dhal and cardamoms, each separately, in oil or ghee.
Add every thing to the shredded mutton and squeeze in the juice of 3 lemons.
Add salt.Mix well, make small balls and deep frying hot ghee on a low heat.
This dish can also be prepared with pork and the meatballs may be used in a Kofta Curry as a variation.
