Recipe for Masala Beans
Ingredients
- Red kidney beans 2 cups (soaked overnight)
- Onions 2 (finely cut)
- Bay leaves 2
- Ginger/garlic 1 tsp (chopped)
- Asafetida powder ½ tsp
- Cumin powder 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder 2 tsp
- Tomatoes 2 (chopped)
- Hot spices powder 1 tsp
- Coriander powder 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Fresh coriander for garnishing
Cooking Directions
Boil beans in 4 cups salted water. Set aside.
Heat oil in a pot; add cumin, bay leaves, asafetida and ginger/garlic, and fry till golden.
Add onions and fry.
Add turmeric, red chillies, coriander and tomatoes and fry till oil separates.
Add beans along with water and salt and cook till water dries.
Sprinkle hot spices on beans and keep on dum.
Serve delicious Masala Beans garnished with coriander.
