Recipe for MOROCCAN BUTTER COOKIES
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs, separated
- 1/3 cup toasted sesame seeds
- 1 egg white, beaten
Cooking Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift together the flour and salt; set aside. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in the egg yolks. Gradually mix in the flour mixture to form a thick, stiff dough.
Add sesame seeds to the dough and mix well. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheets.
Flatten the cookies to about 1/4 inch thick. Brush the tops lightly with beaten egg white. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely
