Recipe for French White Sauce
Ingredients
- Milk - 3 cups
- Butter - 3 tsp
- Flour - 2 1/2 tsp
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- peppercorns - 4 nos
- Onion ( Pyaj) - 1(small)
- Coriander leaves ( Dhania Patta) - 1/2 tsp, chopped
- Grated Nutmeg - a pinch
- Lal Mirchi / Red chili pepper - a pinch
- Clove ( Lavang ) - 1 nos
- Salt ( Namak) - 1/2 tsp
- Lemon ( Nimbu ) Juice - 1/2 tsp
Cooking Directions
Add coriander, peppercorns, cloves, bay leaf and chopped onions to milk and boil.
Melt butter and add flour into it, let the mixture cook a little, avoid browning and then add the hot milk.
Whisk it while it cooks and then leave it to simmer for about six minutes.
Strain it by using a sieve or a strainer and then put it into the pan again and add a pinch of salt, red chili and nutmeg for seasoning.
Add lemon juice when it gets cold.
The sauce is ready to be served with friend dishes.
