A 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck part of Sindh and Blochistan with its epi-center located in Balochistan. Tremors were also felt for several minutes in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana and parts of Balochistan. According to the Meteorological Department the earthquake measured 7.7 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was 120 KM from Khuzdar in Balochistan.
Reports stated that several houses have been damaged as a result of the earthquake in Khuzdar. The US Geological Survey measured the earthquake at 7.8 on the Richter scale. Light tremors were also felt in Northern India, UAE and Oman. Many houses have been damaged in Balochistan’s Awaran district because of the earthquake. The affected area Awaran is located between Turbat and Khuzdar. The tremors were felt at 4:29pm. People are reportedly injured in Awaran and are being taken to a hospital.
