Facebook is in the process of launching an App Centre app in the Android and Apple Stores on Thursday on three platforms—Android, iOS and Facebook.com itself, the website announced.
“The App Centre is launching tonight with more than 600 social apps, including Nike+ GPS, Ubisoft Ghost Recon Commander, Stitcher Radio, Draw Something, and Pinterest,” Facebook reps wrote in an email.
“You’ll only see high quality apps in the App Centre, based on user ratings and engagement.”
Facebook has been working o an app centre for a while now, and announced its intention in May this year. But this is its first public-facing manifestation.
According to Forbes, Facebook also revealed some new stats on Thursday:
More than 230 million people play games on Facebook every month and more than 130 games on Facebook have more than 1 million monthly active users.
Facebook drove people to the Apple App Store 83 million times in May from Facebook mobile apps.
Facebook also drove people directly to iOS apps 134 million times in May.
In other words, someone saw an app status message in their News Feed on Facebook and clicked off to the third-party app.
