Subject : A Cobra
A cobra I saw
creeping along the road.
Frightened I felt at first,
but from the bottom of my heart,
courage I found and asked the cobra:
“Why are you wandering?
Isn’t it dangerous for both you and us?”The cobra raised its hood and hissed:
“Wake up! Rip Van Winkle!
This is the Third Millennium!
People aren’t afraid of me
and I do not fear them.
A human heart is now
the safest nest for a cobra!” Bewildered I stood there
wondering what to do.
A dove I need to lay eggs
in the depths of my heart
before the cobras come.
But where to find doves?
