Scientists at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, on 4 July 2012, discovered a new sub-atomic particle called Higgs Boson or God’s Particle. The new discovery is being considered as a gateway to a new era in understanding the universe's great mysteries including dark matter. The particle was named Higgs Boson after Peter Higgs and Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose. Peter Higgs was one of six authors who wrote the revolutionary papers covering what is now known as the Higgs mechanism and described the related Higgs field and boson.

The mass of the Earth is generally divided into three
layers, namely, Crust, Mantle and Core. The Lithosphere
is the name given to the outer Crust which is not more
than 10 miles thick. It is made up of a great variety of
rocks, soils, etc.
Rocks:
1. Sedimentary Rocks:These rocks are made up of
deposits laid down on the floor of river beds, lakes
and seas.
Examples:Sand and sandstone, clay, lime stone,
chalk and carbonaceous rocks, such as lignite, coal
and anthracite.
2. Igneous Rocks:These are primary rocks which are
formed by cooling and solidification of molten lava.
When such rocks are poured out on the surface
they are known as Volcanic rocks, e.g. basalt. When
the molten material solidifies at considerable depth,
plutonic rocks are formed, e.g. granite.
3. Metamorphic Rocks:These rocks are formed as a
result of alteration by extreme heat and or pressure
of igneous or sedimentary rocks. Example, slate,
gneiss, schist etc.

Status : Offline		 Union Cabinet of India approved the Demands of Ex-servicemen for One Rank One Pension
The Union Cabinet of India, under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 24 September 2012 approved the long awaited demand for One Rank One Pension (OROP) and other benefits of ex-servicemen. The cabinet also gave a nod for enhancement of pension for family and dual family pension. The approved demand will cost the government about Rs 2300 crore per year. The cabinet also approved family pension grants for mentally or physically challenged children of personnel from armed forces.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on 23 September 2012 was awarded with the work of Management Consulting Services by Jakarta Metro Rail Project. Before this, DMRC assisted them in preparation of SAPI (Special Assistance on Project Implementation). The work in its first phase will be done in a distance of 15.7 kilometer. DMRC will be working in a joint-venture with eight international companies.
DMRC is also acting as a consultant to other metro projects of the nation that includes Chennai, Bangaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Jaipur (here DMRC is also looking after the construction work).

Actor-director Dinesh Thakur, primarily remembered for his cigarette smoking serious looks in the films of 1970‘s died on 20 September 2012. Thakur (65) died due to his prolonged illness is now survived by his actor wife Prita Mathur. Some of his critically as well as commercially appreciated films include Rajanigandha, Mere Apne and Ghar. His film Rajanigandha directed by Basu Chatterjee in 1974 won Filmfare Best Movie Award and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie. Screenplay of Ghar (1978) that fetched him FilmFare Best Story Award was written by him. He also played a role in the serial named Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Status : Offline		 DMRC started its 17-week training program to train the recruits of Rapid Metrorail
The 17-week training program scheduled to be conducted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the new recruits of Rapid Metrorail Gurgaon Limited (RMGL) commenced on 17 September 2012. RMGL is a consortium that is engaged in building of the 6.1 kilometer Rapid Metro network in Gurgaon and will connect the Sikanderpur Metro station to Cyber City and NH-8 in Gurgaon. The same body will be looking forward for its operations in the future. The rapid metro is scheduled to come under operations by April 2013.
