Recipe for Karela Daal Channa
Ingredients
- Bitter ground (peeled, sliced) ½ kg
- Split bengal gram (boiled) 1 cup
- Tamarind 1 tbsp
- Oil ½ cup
- Brown onion ½ cup
- Salt as required
- Red chili powder 1½ tsp
- Coriander powder 1½ tsp
- Nigella seeds ½ tsp
- Ginger garlic paste 1½ tsp
- Yogurt ½ cup
- Tamarind pulp 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
- Green chilies (chopped) 4
Cooking Directions
Scrape the bitter gourd, rub salt and leave for 2 hours.
Then rub bitter gourd and squeeze out all water.
Add sufficient amount of water in cooking pan, add tamarind and bitter gourd, boil for 5 minutes.
Then drain out the water.
Heat up ½ cup oil and fry bitter gourd. Take out fried bitter gourd in a bowl.
In same oil add brown onion with ¼ cup water, and then add salt, red chili powder, coriander powder, nigella seeds, ginger garlic paste and yogurt. Cook about 2-3 minutes.
Now add boiled split Bengal gram, cook 2-3 minutes.
Lastly add tamarind pulp, chopped coriander and green chilies. Serve.
