Recipe for Chana Dal

Ingredients

  • Gram lentils 250 gm
  • Mustard and fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp each
  • Onion seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Caroom seeds 1/8 tsp
  • Aniseeds 1/4 tsp
  • Whole red chillies 4
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Ghee 1 tbsp
  • Onion 1
  • Salt to taste

Cooking Directions

Boil the lentils and keep aside.

Heat ghee and fry 1 chopped onion to a golden brown.

Add the rest of the spices and when they start spluttering, put in the lentils, turmeric powder, salt, sugar and bay leaves.

Cook till well blended.
