Merits and Demerits of Having Tea

Coffee may be a very vital part of western peoples life, but for Asians and especially for Pakistani’s and India’s the alternative for coffee is TEA. According to some studies Pakistan is one of the largest consumers of Tea, and off course we will be after all its only us who can or at-least try get rid of headaches, depression, anxiety and much more not through medicines but with the a cup of TEA  isn’t it, but then after all we are Pakistani’s. Even our hangout and gossips are done over a cup of Tea. And no dinner lunch or party is complete without tea. Despite tea becoming ubiquitous in our life we are not aware of what effects its has on our health, its merits/demerits and its pro’s and cons.Some of us might not be even aware of how many types of Tea’s are their in the world and what are their merits and demerits.There are in total 6 types of teas:
 
* Green Tea
* Oolong Tea
* Black Tea
* White Tea
* Pu Erh Tea
 
Merits and Demerits of Having Tea
 
And Below are some of the merits and demerits of having Tea :
 
Merits Of  Tea:
 
1) The studies are now pretty clear, if you drink a lot of tea you are less likely to get cancer. If you drink about four cups of tea a day you are up to 60% less likely to get cancer thanks to the antioxidants in tea leaves. There is true especially in the case o green tea.
2) One of the notable effects of tea is that it helps you concentrate and focus.This effect is due to the amino acid L-theanine which gets absorbed in your gut and travels in the blood to your brain. And in this case its better than coffee as it does not make you hyper and it wakes u without over stimulating.
3) Tea is supposed to be a very strong immune booster. People who drink tea on a regular basis are supposed to be more immune to the cold or flu.
4) Tea also helps you in fighting against stress, as it helps reducing the stress hormones in your body.
5) And an important factor for girls is that, tea can help you reduce weight as it boosts your metabolism which result is loss of weight especially if you drink few cups of green tea without sugar it has a direct effect on your waistline.
 
Demerits Of Tea:
 
1) To much Tea can effect your sleep. If you have sleeping problems one reason can be the excess of tea.
2) If you drink tea in excess, i.e. more than a normal Pakistani is drinking it is likely going to cause damage to your kidney. Studies have shown that tea contains oxalates which causes some kidney damage.
3) Intake of tea in a large amount can also cause irritability or anxiety.
4) According to MedLine Plus, green tea can interfere with the drug warfarin, an anticoagulant and make it less effective. i.e. it increases the risk of blood clots.
 
One thing common between the disadvantages of coffee and tea is the excess use of them. Both of them can be useful as long as they are used with moderate amount. So, if you want to enjoy tea and make it a healthy drink rather then an unhealthy one just don’t drink excess of it.
