Imran Khan, the quaid of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) has recently once again said that if he becomes the Prime Minister he would save Pakistan from the terrorism. So good of him to show that resolve and also giving hope to the masses of the country. But he is imposing a pre-condition on the Pakistani people of first making him a premier? He doesn’t have to be a Prime Minister to go and talk with the Taliban terrorists. He has already been asked to contribute or lead the negotiations with the terrorists, publicly by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has failed miserably to make any progress so far in tackling this issue. He was never destined to make any improvements as he is a egoist, arrogant, inefficient, and only knows how to put Nawaz Sharif in more trouble.
Anyway, Imran Khan is a Change. He is not a politician, at least not a traditional and conservative one. We know that our run of the mill politicians always keep their politics first, even in front of the national interest. For exampe, just like PPP and JUI-F, both Zardari and Fazlur Rehman would sell anything including themselves to gain political benefits. But I didn’t expect it from the new and fresh entrant in this mess like Imran Khan.
This terrorism issue is where we all need to think as Pakistanis, and rise above the party identification. I was hoping that Imran Khan would sincerely go ahead and help government in KPK and Islamabad to go for talks, and then if they fail for the operation. The truth is that everybody knows that eventually operation is the only answer, as the terrorists in the FATA are below animals and their only agenda is occupying Pakistan, and then advance towards rest of civilized world. They won’t rest until then, and they have to be wiped out through brute force.
But due to Imran Khan’s continuous support for the terrorists has put federal government and military in a very complex and embarrassing situation. The know that if they would go ahead with the operation, Imran Khan would confuse the divided nation even more and would try to leverage it politically. Imran’s recent statements and speeches reek of the fact that all he wants is to become Prime Minister, no matter what. For that he is willing to compromise anything including the national interest. Time is running out for the government and military. Time has almost come, when they have to ignore terrorist apologists like Imran Khan, and get on with the job of cleanup.
