Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday decided to attend in the annual awards of International Cricket Council (ICC) which are scheduled to be held in Colombo on September 15.
After the exclusion Saeed Ajmal, world’s top One Day International (ODI) and T20 bowler, from the player of the year list, it was believed that the PCB may boycott the awards ceremony.
Sources in the team said that five players and two officials will attend.
The PCB also lodged a protest with ICC over Ajmal’s exclusion from the shortlist but the ICC rejected the complaint saying the protest is not logical.
The 34-year-old’s name did not feature among the four nominees for the coveted ‘Test Cricketer of the Year’ award, despite being taking 72 wickets in the period under consideration, including 24 in Pakistan’s 3-0 rout of then world number one Test team England earlier this year.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) holds the annual awards ceremony to recognise the best players and umpire in international cricket.
