Renowned writer, scholar Obaidullah Baig passes away in Karachi

Pakistan’s eminent scholar, Urdu writer/novelist and television host Obaidullah Baig passed away in Karachi on Friday morning.

His family sources said that his funeral would be offered after Friday prayers today at Madina Masjid, Talwar II-Clifton.

Obaidullah Baig teamed up with Iftikhar Arif in 1970s and then with Ghazi Salahuddin in 1990s and won renown for the famous Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) quiz show Kasauti.

His wife, Salma Baig was also a renowned face on PTV for hosting programs in the past and for her participation in educational sector.

Obaidullah Baig also awarded a ‘Pride of Performance’ on August 14, 2008 for his achievements in the Pakistani media.
