As the LG, the World’s No. 2 Television maker, had introduced its first Google TV at Consumer Electronics Show in January this year in Las Vegas, Now the company has announced to launch the Google TV in the United States later this month.
The South Korean firm announced it had inked a deal to produce Google TVs beginning later this month, American consumers will be able to purchase Google TVs on May 21, Reuters quoted Ro Seogho, an executive with LG’s television unit as saying.
“Production of Google TVs will start from May 17 from our factory in Mexico and U.S. consumers will be able to buy the product from the week of May 21.”
A Google TV’s main difference with its non-Internet counterparts is the ability to access Google content while watching television, such as Google searches and YouTube videos, the report said.
Ro said LG will decide whether to expand the offering to Europe and Asia after reviewing sales performance in the U.S. market.
However no information on prices, screen sizes, or initial shipment sizes has yet been released.
