Nuclear scientist and founding father of Pakistan’s nuclear program, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan has expressed the desire to contest election from Lahore.
He was speaking at the Punjab University on Wednesday. , Khan urged the youth to vote for educated people in next election.
He said that situation in Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan was deteriorating. Khan of the view that a technocrat set up should be put in place in Pakistan.
He said that situation in Punjab was comparatively better, adding that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had political guts. Beside,Nawaz Sharif should quit politics.
The national hero said that computer labs should have been opened in the province instead of distributing laptops.
Qadeer Khan said that Yellow Cab scheme was under the use of influential people.
He recalled the history and said that he had written a letter to former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto following the nuclear tests of India, urging him to establish nuclear program for Pakistan.
He said he had told Z.A Bhutto that Pakistan would be destroyed if it didn’t make atom bomb.
Khan noted that Bhutto asked him to come to Pakistan and undertake the work for the nuclear program.
“After nuclear explosions Indian realized that Pakistan could not be destroyed,” he added.
