Supreme Court acquits two prisoners after eight years

The Supreme Court on Thursday acquitted two prisoners accused of murdering a person in 2009 for lack of evidence in the case. A three-judge bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa passed the acquittal orders of Haji Muhammad Hashim and Gulab when it observed that there was no concrete evidence against the accused. The apex court also observed that the incident was not witnessed and acquitted the convicted persons by giving them benefit of doubt. The Balochistan High Court had maintained life imprisonment of the two accused, which was reverted by the Supreme Court. Gulab had served four years in prison whereas, Haji had almost served eight years in jail.
