MQM is taking lead right now in the Karachi Local bodies election as the voters cast their vote in generally a peaceful environment and voting is going on in a smooth fashion throughout the Karachi division. PTI and JI alliance is also looking good with more than expected turnout. Rangers’ presence has also emboldened people to come out and exercise their vote. PML-N, ANP, PPP and other parties also have their pockets where they are influencing the mandate. This Karachi local government election is a massive one and this time MQM has facing difficult to have a clean sweep.

This election in 2015 involves one Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and six District Municipal Corporations (DMCs) in Karachi West, Karachi East, Karachi South, Karachi Central, Korangi and Malir. Exit polls show that MQM is leading with 60%, PTI+JI alliance 30%, while other parties including PMLN and PPP are grabbing few pockets of 10%. These polls have been culled randomly from 247 Union Councils and 988 wards besides district councils in the rural areas of the Karachi division.
