Ride sharing is a concept not much alien to Pakistan. Many people who travel to their jobs, pool their money, hire a van, bus, car, high roof or similar vehicle and pay it monthly for pick and drop from office or their business. I know many people, for example, who travel from Wah Cantt to Islamabad Blue area on daily basis sharing the cars of their friends. They divide the cost of petrol or CNG and toll fee and everybody travels in comfort and ease and with dignity of course. Public transport is insulting, badly managed, very bad, expensive and highly unfeasible for the people especially for the white collar or middle class workers and students. So ride sharing services would be a real charm for the Pakistanis. That and it would provide the people with cars to have a second income. In countries like Pakistan, where taxis and cabs are expensive and still considered a luxury, if common people would start using their vehicles as cabs without having to stand on taxi stands, it would go a long way. This business is going to be a hit, I am telling you. But Uber has to be careful as they won’t have that security here as they enjoy in Western countries.
