Country is rocking with the news of fake degree scam allegedly run by one of the well known software firms in the country. More thrilling is the tale as how the CEO of that firm managed to secure a license for a private television channel. It’s typical example of whitening of the black money in the motherland. Bakery owners, college chain owners, land grabbers, smugglers and other mafia dons are already running private news TV channels. They are not only garnering money but also using their channels to blackmail the politicians and other people to gain power and clout and to provide cover to their illegal activities.
Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh of Axact scandal has also exposed the reality behind the ownership of these media TV channels. Just look at their anchors and their talk shows. Every night they give lectures to the nation; they dress down the politicians; encourage and flame fights between them; and look at their salaries and packages. CEO of Axact wanted the power too after money so he went ahead and purchased a TV license but one of the intelligence agencies of the country did not give security clearance to its directors. So Interior Ministry withdrew the NOC but the channel managed to secure a stay from a court. Shoaib went ahead and bought an old channel and became its new owner, successfully dodging the mandatory requirement of going through the process of security clearance. He offered unbelievable money and anchors made a beeline of joining the channel. Now as Shoaib has been exposed, these anchors are coming up with tall claims and excuses to join their previous channels back.
