Where Nabil Gabol’s cables are connected? Nothing happens in Pakistan at the political level without reason. Especially whenever something is ‘leaked’ and ‘exposed’ alarm bells of suspicion start ringing. The veterans of Pakistani politics know that normally where the source of these exposes resides. Nabil Gabol left PPP and joined MQM. It was very surprising that a Baloch from Lyari joined Urdu-speaking MQM and then won the election from NA-246 by bagging ludicrous amount of votes. This was all too convenient and easy. Some raised eyebrows but due to the dharna politics of PTI in Islamabad, it mainly go unnoticed. Then all of a sudden Nabil Gabol flipped and left MQM and even resigned from his seat in the National Assembly. Now if you know these sardars, you know that their whole life revolves around getting into the assemblies because that solidifies their power-base.
It was very curious to see Nabil resigning. Then he appeared in a talk-show on the GEO TV and ‘predicted’ an operation in the Karachi against MQM. It was a slip of tongue which exposed him and so right after senate elections, rangers moved in against MQM. Since then there is a tug of war between establishment and the MQM. MQM is on the backfoot on many fronts. Establishment has also activated PTI against MQM. It seems that Nabil Gabol left his seat for PTI and it was all very well planned and now Nabil has said that he won by rigging. Nabil Gabol has said that rigging was carried out in NA-246 and several other constituencies of Karachi. Nabil has also alleged that MQM leader Anis Qaimkhani had assured him that he would easily get more than 140,000 votes in NA-246 election contest. That directly benefits PTI too. No sympathy for MQM, but none for PTI and their masters too.
