The time has come for the final decision for everybody involved in Karachi from within and the outside. Karachi is slipping away and with this mighty ship sinking, rest of Pakistan will follow automatically in this downward slide. That is the reason why Pindi and Islamabad have arrived at same page to launch this ongoing Karachi operation. Regardless of the operation, ultimately it’s the common people of Karachi, who are called as Karachiites who have to decide their own fate with following points in perspective:
1) Do they want to keep living in restive city forever or do they want a routine, stable and bustling metropolis?
2) Do they want to leave their houses daily not knowing whether they will be able to return safely to their homes and families or not?
3) Do they want to be sure that when it will be off time at 5 pm in evening from their offices, there will be no immediate strike in the city?
4) Do they want to take their cell phones out in public to attend or make calls without fear of getting it snatched?
5) Do they want to stop paying extortion money in different forms?
6) Do they want to vote independently and freely come elections?
That and many other things which come to the mind. Karachi is literally hostage at this point in time, mainly in the hands of MQM. ANP, PPP, and TTP have their pockets but they are minimal and already almost gone as rangers sweep the city thoroughly, though work still remains to be done there. If MQM keeps ruling the city with iron hand and fear tactics, no other party would be able to enjoy providing alternate option to the public. City will keep mired in uncertainty, crime, and fear. If MQM is de-militarized and PTI is given fair chance, then it would pave the way for other political forces in the long run. That is why all the parties have shown their satisfaction over Karachi operation except MQM. Rangers are not stopping and they must not. This chance will not dawn again. We cannot afford to loose this chance. Above all now it’s on the shoulders of Karachi people to show some mettle and break the shackles of MQM. And we all know that PTI is their natural choice at their free will.
