It’s simple and not a rocket science. The problem with Pakistani Cricket team is crystal clear and so obvious. I am amazed at the armchair samurais and wheelchair wrestlers in newspapers, social media and TV talk shows of coming up arcane and bizarre explanations as why our Cricket has fell to such low. Some point fingers at the former chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi, some point fingers at the current chairman. Some blame it all to Moin Khan’s visit to casino, some point fingers at the Nawaz Sharif, some accuse Musharraf and some just call it bad luck. The problem with our team is crystal clear. We simply have failed to bring in talent. Yes, look at the team and you would find same old goats getting repetitive chances. The failure is to find new talent in batting, bowling, and fielding and bringing it to the team and keep doing that from every nook of the country.
Yes that’s the problem and the solution lies within that problem. PCB needs to forget everything else and put all energies on finding and bringing in new talent upon talent. There is no dearth of talent but there is no channeling of it to the right place. During 80s and 90s, we were finding talent and bringing into the team. After Miandad, Saleem Malik we found Inzamam and Yousaf for example and after Wasim and Waqar we found Shoaib Akhtar, but then it was kind of a frozen curtain descended upon this process. On war footings, and on the emergency basis, PCB needs to send teams to every city and village. They have the budget and resources to to that. There is no lack of talent. Just bombard the team with talent. Increase bench strength. Only that way we will get rid of these Mishbah, Akmals, Afridis, Younis and others.
