When Pakistani Fielding Coach Grant Luden tried to point out deficiencies in catching technique of Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, and Ahmed Shahzad after Pakistani lost to arch rival India in world cup match, the 3 players refused to listen to him and told him to mind his own business. Grant actually was minding his own business. His business is to be the Pakistani fielding coach and this is his job responsibility to point out and coach players about the fielding including the catching. Pakistani team dropped many catches during the much-touted India Pakistan match in Adelaide.
Grant first complained to Team manager Naveed Akram Cheema, who tried to put some sense into the players but they told Cheema that they were senior players and know how to catch and nobody needs to teach them that. Grant then telephoned Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Sheheryar Ahmed Khan and threatened to resign. Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Sheheryar Ahmed Khan needs to take this matter very seriously and maintain the discipline no matter what. All of these 3 players including rest of the team is not something to write home about and everyone of them can be replaced. There is match winner there and they all have tall egos and worst attitudes. They don’t admit their mistakes and they refuse to listen and correct them. They keep dropping catches, perform badly in bowling and batting, and yet they refuse to listen to the coach. Time for PCB to act.
