His shaky Urdu, pathetic self-made slogans, and same old tactics of using corpses of Bhutto clan to garner sympathy have dampened his image as a fresh face for the Pakistan People’s Party, which is one of the oldest yet dynastic political party in the Pakistan. There are other issues too which are responsible for putting question marks on Bilawal. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the name of this chap who has just turned 26 and who was made the chairman of PPP when he was just 19 years of age. That was a political gimmick, because all the control as and still is in the hands of his father Asif Ali Zardari, who remains one of the least popular person in the country. After the death of Benazir Bhutto, the chairperson of PPP, military made Zardari president to calm down the Sindhi unrest. It was highly unpopular decision throughout the country except in few parts of interior Sindh but people remained quiet in the face of big tragedy.
But nobody ever forgot the tainted past of Asif Ali Zardari. His corruption scandals, his palatial residences in UK and France, his infamous Swiss accounts, his luxurious horses, and his Bilawal Houses are some of the things by which he is known in public. Bilawal is now active in politics but the very reason that his name contains the word Zardari and he is in fact son of Zardari makes him far less appealing especially in the power base of Punjab and Karachi. Nobody really wants to vote for a Zardari. To make matters worse for PPP, Zardari still enjoys iron grip on party and its he who calls the actual shots. Bilawal must get rid of all the old faces in his party and must bring youth and new messages. Selling the name of corpses won’t work anymore.
