‘Dagh’ of this sore wound will not go away, even if apparently this sore wound heals in future. Right when Imran Khan and his movement for change was taking off for the change, Javed Hashmi switched the loyalties and stabbed Imran Khan and his cause in the back and still trying to undermine it. Like most of PTI youth, I also always put Javed Hashmi in the highest of the pedestals. We were ecstatic when he joined, and we were uplifted whenever he appeared in the public gatherings of the PTI. We gave him respect, love, and the stature, which he deserved. But did he really deserve it? Well, in the hindsight, he didn’t. He was a problem always. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jehangir Tareen, Azam Swati, Arif Alvi, Shireen Mazari and few times even very tolerant Fauzia Kasuri complained during the core committee meetings that Hashmi was interfering in their work without any reason. Violating all the protocols of the leadership, norms and values of a political party and its leader; Javed Hashmi was habitual of standing right in middle of Imran Khan’s address during core committee, interrupting him and starting his own harangue. It was evident that he appointed himself a uninvited political teacher of Imran Khan. Imran Khan himself few times told Hashmi to stop being so pedantic and patronizing.
After spending 18 years in the desert of politics, Imran is no stranger to the intricacies of political shenanigans. But it seems that due to the age and his illness, Hashmi has lost it. I guess that is why everybody tolerated him in the party for so long. Immediately after he joined, due to his irksome habits, party and its chairman immediately realized that he was not the gift they were hoping for. He was more of a liability than an asset. From ticket distribution to the election campaign, from day to day running of party to forming alliances, Hashmi wanted his own way. During this recent Azadi march, Hashmi used to object to everything and it seemed that he was representative of PML-N within PTI. He opposed every move, and he became angrier at every step. And then he did what will be written as shameful in the political history of Pakistan. He deserted his party when party was in make or break moment. He was always in touch with the PML-N leadership through Khawaja Saad Rafique. He was mole of PML-N in our party. Interestingly enough, 3 people were named in Mehran Bank and they all are on the other side; Nawaz Sharif, Javed Hashmi and Mirza Aslam Baig. Now Javed Daghi is continuously maligning PTI, and it seems he has lost it. All we can say now is ‘Good Riddance.’
