Government shouldn’t obstruct the Azadi March of Imran Khan, but government must stop Tahir ul Qadri to create chaos. Imran Khan and his party PTI are political entities and they are to remain within this system no matter what they say. But as Qadri has nothing to loose, he will go to any length to spread anarchy. For the last two days, we are witnessing what Qadri is up to. He has been inciting the public against the policemen. He has threatened police on media and has asked his followers to attack the homes of policemen and take their families hostage. He is also talking about blood for blood, and that means its ok for his followers to kill the policemen. Yesterday, one policemen was killed by the TuQ’s PAT workers in Bhera.
In another incident, PAT workers killed another policemen in Faisal Chowk Lahore. The father of deceased police personnel, Muhammad Ashraf, has filed an application in Factory Area police station for lodging murder case against Tahirul Qadri, Geo News reported. In the plea, Ashraf’s father prayed that his son was killed in the torture by the workers of Qadri, therefore, murder case should be registered against him (Qadri) and others. In one another incident in Attock, PAT workers took 9 policemen hostage, and tried to behead one of them, but luckily he escaped. Policemen reported that they were stabbed with the ice-breaking knives, and were beaten with the nail-studded sticks. It is clear that Qadri wants to incite the police so that they storm him, and then Qadri could present more corpses to the country and raise more hue and cry and disrupt the whole country. He wants to make Pakistan, another Syria and Iraq. That is his task.
Imran Khan, I hope and I think, will not follow what Qadri is up to. Imran should know better that if he disrupts the system, he would also not get anything in return. Imran has got huge political following and the youth adores him. Protesting and long march is his right, and he should do it if he feels like it. He must not be stopped by government and let him go where he wants. Government must deal with Imran politically. PML-N leaders can preempt Imran’s demand. They can themselves push for electoral reforms, make changes in their cabinet may be, voluntarily ask their four contentious constituencies to step down and have fresh elections. There is no point in locking horns with Imran. Pakistan doesn’t really side with Qadri, so government strict action against him makes sense. But this wouldn’t work with Imran.
