Recipe for Red Sauce Chutney
Ingredients
- 2 cups tamarind pulp
- 1 cup dries plum
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp thinly sliced cabbage
- 2 tbsp thinly sliced carrot
- 2 tbsp Jaggery
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- a pinch of red food color
- 10 button red chilies
- 6 whole green chilies, fried in oil
Cooking Directions
Put dried plum in a saucepan. Add water, tamarind pulp, jaggery, sugar, tomato ketchup, salt , red chili powder, red color.
Bring to a boil and let it simmer for 30 minutes or until mixture syrupy.
Then add carrot,cabbage, red chilies and fried green chilies.
Cook for another 5 minutes or until syrup is thickened.
Remove from the heat. Take it out in a serving bowl.
